makeup dupes you need to try in 2016!

I'm all about a good bargain. I also like spending money. But, I get tired of spending so much money on makeup, and it running out so quickly. Don't get me wrong, I do have nice makeup. And expensive makeup. But wearing it daily, I don't feel like I need to spend soooo much money on good stuff when I'm really doing nothing important and with my life besides heading out to Target and Starbucks. Ya feel me!?

Today I am sharing with you my tried and true favorite makeup dupes that you need to try this year!
I know these don't last as long as expensive makeup would..hence why they are cheaper..but for just day to day stuff, they work great for me and I have zero complaints!

I didn't even add in foundation in this mix, because that is one thing I do not skimp on. Daily, I wear Estee Lauder Double Wear Light and it usually stays on most of the day for me. If I have somewhere fancy to go that I really need more coverage, I will wear the regular Double Wear from Estee Lauder. These are the best I have found that work for me, and the colors match my skin tone perfectly.

All of these dupes will run you about $15 or less and can be found in drugstores! I think Walmart carries all of these brands, so if you want to pick them all up at once, that's definitely the place to go!
However, I have linked all of them below to purchase via Amazon if your little heart so desires.

First, lets start with a total staple in my house. Concealer. Mama needs to hide these bags somehow, right!? If nothing else, I usually will always, always, always put on concealer before the leaving the house. It just brightens up your face so much & I love it! Simple & takes like .5 seconds to apply. This concealer from Hard Candy (found in stores at Walmart) seriously hides everything. You literally only need the smallest drop ever, and this stuff provides maximum coverage. Its is pretty thick, so you just need to apply a very thin layer. I have a tube of this and have used it pretty religiously for the past 2 years, and I'm still on the same one (don't judge me, I know thats a long time buuuuutt I can't toss it out when it still works fine!). I like to compare this to Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer. I do love Bobbi's concealer too, but its sooo small and soo pricey! Sometimes, I even think the Hard Candy one works better!

So everyone and their mother knows that Nars Orgasm is like the Holy Grail of blushes. Flatters everyone, slight highlight to it, gold undertones. Gorgeous. But pricey. So pricey. And I use it so quickly. Tired. Of. It.
I have been on the hunt for a while for a blush that can compare even a little. I saw Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink at CVS one day and decided to give it a try. Works like a charm!  Of course, not an exact match, but at a $10 price tag, it works well enough for me! Toss a little on your cheeks and you're out the door and ready to go! I was honestly surprised at how much I liked it. Sometimes I think Orgasm can be a little toooo much, so this was just enough for my day to day.

I like matte bronzers. I love highlighters, so I feel like if I were to have a bronzer that wasn't matte, and a highlighter, I just might be playing with fire. I also feel like sometimes a sparkle bronzer is too juvenile for my personal taste, so I just stick to matte. I looooove the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer. It literally smells like chocolate you are putting on your face. Its magical. Buuuuut again, expensive. I have a kid now. I do noooot have money to just blow on makeup like I used to. So I stumbled across this NYX Matte Bronzer at Target, and I fell in love. It gets the job done, and I'm super happy with the results.  There's no chocolate smell, but maybe that's better for my diet!?

Oh my gosh y'all, I cannot even begin to tell you the love affair I have with this Elf Shimmering Facial Whip. Like literally I wear it every. single. day. It has got to be one of my favorite products ever and its only $1. I may or may not have bought 10 of them the last time I saw them in case they ever decide to discontinue them. Its amazing. So in love.
I really prefer a liquid highlighter/illuminator especially on a day to day basis to give my face that "dewey" and fresh look. I used to use this NARS Copacabana Illuminator, but that has ended, my friends. I have officially divorced it and we will never ever be getting back together. Like ever. (cue Taylor Swift).

Mascara is another one of my loves. A little bit can make such a huge impact and it just gets me ready and rearing to go for the day! Mascara is one of those things that I think has come such a long way in the world of drugstore makeup, that I honestly can't tell that much of a difference in them. Therefore, I do not enjoy spending upwards of $20 for some. And I use it so much, I could go through a tube a month! Not awesome.
Maybelline Colossal Lash is definitely my go-to mascara right now. It is so long lasting and makes my lashes super long. Its about $6 so honestly, that price tag cannot be beat. Its my favorite right now, and has been for the past 6 months or so since I first tried it. Usually, I search the makeup and buy every new mascara out there, but not after finding this baby!
My favorite "high end" mascara before finding my new mascara BFF was Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes
Great mascara and no complaints about this guy other than the price.

Cream Eyeshadow
So every day, I put some cream eyeshadow in the corner of my eyes and I feel like it really brightens up my face. Super simple and makes a huge impact. I have found that preeeeetty much every brand will crease after a long time so I have honestly found no difference in these two besides again, the price. I think they last basically the same amount of time and I also will use one as a primer if I am using a powder shadow too. I don't think I will pay for the MAC Paint Pot again when I can just easily buy Maybelline's version for like 1/3 of the price. And its much easier to get aaaand I can get a lot of colors!

That's all I've got for you guys today! Try these guys out, and please let me know what you think! I'd love to know any other great makeup dupes that you have found to add to my list!
Happy Monday!

  1. The bronzer is my favorite because it smells like chocolate LOL - but I love NYX products so I'll need to check that one out!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  2. These are all great dupes. I love the hard candy concealer and milani baked blushes are my favorites! I'm with you on not skimping on foundation, but if you ever run out of the good stuff, a great drugstore dupe for the double wear foundation is the revlon 24 hr color stay foundation or rimmel 25 hour foundation. Great post!

  3. I definitely need to try that blush! Nars is my favorite, but it's so expensive!

  4. Ummmmm YES to the blush dilemma. Everything I love costs way too much. I'll definitely try the Milani!

  5. Oh awesome! Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to try the concealer!

  6. e.l.f. has so many great products for SO cheap! Those are definitely my go-to when I want to try a new look, but don't want to spend a bunch of money on something I may not ever use again.

  7. Oh I definitely need to try some of these! I love elf but I haven't tried all of their products yet - maybe this year! Can't beat the price!

  8. Nyx is becoming one of my new less expensive to try!! Nars blush is all I can use so I might have to check out that other one!

  9. What a great list!! I am needing more and more make up (Thanks, kids!), but going to Sephora breaks my bank. I am totally trying some of these!! I am going to keep my semi-expensive fiber mascara because my lashes are pretty much non-existent!! Thanks for sharing these!

Thanks for stopping by! I love hearing from you and will respond to all your comments via email ASAP! xox
